Some companies offer of 5 weeks sick with pay per year
allowance is all too much for many to miss out on. Many receive
full pay for their periods 'off-sick' and half pay for further
time over the contracted term. This coupled with 5 weeks paid
holiday per year, is something of a 'perk' to some as 10 weeks
per year paid 'holiday', let alone the half paid time off 'sick'.
A lot of money spent per year, plus possibly the pay for a 'temp'
that may have to be called in, more often than not at the high
rates of some agencies.
Even where no sickpay is paid, the time off alone can give rise
to deadlines being missed orders not going out on time...etc

We have seen an employee steal from Company'A' to provide Company'B' with materials, both companies providing the same 'Service', however Company 'B' was starting up in this business and was found to be owned by a family member of the thieving employee from Company'A'. This could be seen as Theft and Industrial Espionage as the theft of materials was helping Company 'B' build up a business that would be in competition with Company'A' at Company 'A's' cost in both materials and work.
Not only is the theft directed at money and goods, but documents too (see industrial espionage).
Industrial espionage.
One of the most deadliest of threats to any business, Industrial espionage could cost you everything and more.
Information by an Employee, Software, Accounts, Documents, Receipts...etc in the wrong hands (a competitor) can potentially bring down the largest of companies. The opposition WILL and DO pay large amounts of money for such information/items, safeguarding these can be the last thing you think of and may not even have considered the thought, until again it's too late!
Have you employed someone who has worked for or still does work for a competitor, but not realised it? To the competitor having an 'inside man' is like having all their Christmas's come at once, access to all your business. Not only him but any staff approached by a competitor with the offer of hundreds, thousands, and even in some cases millions of pounds for information that will give them the leading edge let alone your hard earned contracts and of course a regular large extra income for an employee.
Securing
all information is as important as the business itself. Losing
contracts or bids being refused? Your competitors business starts
flourishing, they have all the right answers, they know your
weaknesses, that innovative business plan about to be put into
action all of a sudden materialises and actioned from the
opposition!... BUT HOW? Easy, someone
is leaking information. Suspicions could already be in place, but
proving it can be a very difficult task.

Stalked?
Some
900,000 victims a
year suffer this disturbing act of Harassment. A mental torture
endured by women mainly, though some men do also.
Statistics show that; 1 in 5 women will become victims of
'Stalking'. It is reported that 96% of acts are
committed by ex-partners and 4% by other
people.
There are various 'types' of 'stalker' with varying degrees of acts that they commit or attempt to, leaving their victims in states of despair and a lot of the time questioning themselves, blaming themselves going through 'Hell' and feeling helpless.
Stalking is more a given term (name) than a legal term, it is when someone is gathering information on a victim, be it an ex-partner or anyone else for that matter and use it for whatever reason they have or believe they have; Jealousy, "Love"?!, unhealthy infatuations, hatred etc... the list is endless.
You don't have to be rich and famous to be stalked by someone trying to get into your life, many will go so deep into personal life that you no longer have one left once the stalker has finished.
Stalking has a traumatic effect on victims, they can often harass a victim using actions which are in themselves unlawful, for example threatening, abusive or obscene phone calls; using abusive and threatening language; or committing acts of violence, sexual Acts etc...
Unfortunately there are not enough police resources to cope with all the reports and so cannot give all cases their complete attention. Certainly without proof/evidence, it will make the case a lot harder to follow up.
Everyone has the right to live their life in as best a life they can, without someone creating a living nightmare for them and not knowing whether they are going to come to some harm.
Gathering evidence helps to start bring the ordeal to an end, photographic and video footage of acts being committed by the stalker along with some investigative work will help the police immensely in bringing a case against the perpetrator and bring him/her to justice. Of course this would be quite a task when being 'stalked' as the stalker is himself surveying the victim and of course be applying anti-surveillance themselves(some are so fixated they don't).
So with an outside covert operation, evidence can be gathered and protection offered should the threat of violence be made/feared. Meanwhile the victim can try and carry on as normal a daily lifestyle as possible under the circumstances, knowing that the evidence and witness statements are being gathered on their behalf to be presented to the Police and the Courts.
